mikeAs a new school parent in 2007, Mike attended the Superintendent’s invitational luncheon where he learned why Puyallup had fallen short on two construction bonds due to insufficient community involvement.  He got involved with the Carson PTA as its Legislative Rep and later formed a traffic committee that led to the sorely needed Left Turn Arrow, and expansion of the Carson School Zone.  Puyallup is fortunate to have strongly passed the 2015 Construction Bond, but will need to delicately contend with the next set of solutions for the overcrowding that continues in the elementary and junior high schools.

Mike has been very concerned with the various Education Reform initiatives and mandates that are being forced down from the federal and state levels.  Local parents need to have a voice in the selection of a classical curriculum and with the many testing concerns.  Mike has previously spoken about these issues during public comment at Board meetings, and has strongly advocated for all students (especially those on IEP’s) in group presentation meetings and by regularly engaging our state legislators.

Mike understands our current challenges and would be honored with your vote. Parents need to be empowered for excellence in Puyallup!
